Tico Capital was established in 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia. Rooted in family values and a legacy of successful investments and strategic partnerships, Tico Capital continues this tradition with a focus on supporting lower middle-market companies across the Southeast. Over the years, the team has completed more than 200 transactions and deployed over $250 million in capital, showcasing their expertise in buyouts, recapitalizations, and growth investments. Jim Tapp

Jim is a Partner at Tico Capital Partners, where he oversees the firm’s investment strategy and execution. Prior to co-founding Tico Capital, Jim was a founding Partner of KT Capital, an Atlanta-based affiliate of Tico Capital, where he led the firm’s investments and operations for nearly 20 years. Jim remains actively involved in managing KT Capital and its current investments.

Before founding KT Capital, Jim spent over a decade as Managing Partner of Summit Acquisitions Group, an M&A advisory firm that he founded in 1994.  During his M&A and Private Equity career, Jim completed more than 120 transactions. Prior to Summit Acquisitions Group, Jim spent seven years with Mobil Oil Corporation in various senior sales, engineering and management positions. He began his career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Infantry serving in various leadership roles in an active duty combat infantry battalion.  Jim is currently the Chairman of the Board of multiple portfolio companies.

Jim holds a BS in Engineering from West Point and an MBA.

John Tapp

John is a Partner at Tico Capital Partners, where he leads the firm’s investment strategy, portfolio management, and value creation initiatives. Prior to co-founding  Tico Capital, John worked at KT Capital, where he focused on investments in the  software and industrial sectors. Prior to KT Capital, John was an AVP at Regions Business Capital, a division of Regions Bank specializing in asset-based and leverage cash flow credit facilities. John serves on the Board of Directors of Recycling Equipment, Inc. and Precision Piping Products.

John graduated Cum Laude with a BSBA from Auburn University and holds an MBA with Honors from Columbia Business School.

Jimmy Tapp

Jimmy is a Partner at Tico Capital Partners. He has over 10 years of accounting and financial advisory experience. Jimmy is focused on all aspects of Tico operations  including deal evaluation, due diligence and execution, portfolio management and value creation, and strategic planning.

Before co-founding Tico Capital, Jimmy was part of the Strategy & Transactions practice at EY where he served as a transaction diligence advisor on over 100  transactions, specializing in private equity transactions. Jimmy began his career at KPMG in their audit practice.

Jimmy holds a Master’s degree of Science in Accountancy from Wake Forest University and a B.S. in Accountancy from Wake Forest University. He is also a  certified public accountant in the state of Georgia.

Clayton Terry

Clayton has over a decade of experience leading and growing privately held middle market businesses. Clayton was previously an owner of an industry-leading  automotive business, Dealer Solutions and Design (DSD). Under his leadership, he created innovative sales systems and processes that accelerated the company’s  growth. Clayton also led the DSD team through multiple M&A processes.

Clayton is a co-founder and managing partner of 7 Seas Capital, an independent sponsor focused on investing and partnering with lower middle market businesses.  Clayton brings a wealth of operational and M&A experience to the companies he invests in and partners with, with a particular focus on sales innovation, business development, and optimizing operations.

Clayton currently serves on the Board of Directors of Recycling Equipment, Inc. and Precision Piping Products.

Trevor Seckinger

Trevor has over a decade of finance, accounting, and operational experience. Trevor was previously an owner and CFO of an industry-leading automotive business, Dealer Solutions and Design (DSD). While at DSD, he oversaw and led all aspects of their finance and accounting department and led DSD through multiple M&A processes during his time there.

Trevor is a co-founder and managing partner of 7 Seas Capital, an independent  sponsor focused on investing and partnering with lower middle market businesses. Trevor brings significant operational and M&A experience to the companies he invests in and partners with, with a particular focus on developing and implementing finance and accounting best practices, driving growth, and optimizing operations. Trevor currently serves on the Board of Directors of Recycling Equipment, Inc. and Precision Piping Products.

Adam Oaks

Adam has over 35 years of leadership experience with high growth venture and private equity backed technology companies from start-up through mid-market.  Experience includes SaaS, Data and Software within AEC, FinTech, Fraud and Identity, Web Market Places, and Manufacturing industries. Adam currently serves on the Board of Directors of Microcall.
